Original “Air” on Handcrafted Daphne Paper, Black Frame, 2016

3,970 incl. VAT

Fine blossom, with each bloom seeming to dance to a minuet from long, delicate stems. Movement is suggested by the delicate lines and depth is achieved through the glazing technique of fluorescent watercolors applied in layers. The rich black of the background is characteristic of the exclusive Daphne paper that Evi Schartner used for ‘Air’. It is the conclusion to a bygone papermaking craft from the Himalayas, as Daphne paper is no longer available in this quality today. The paper sheet for the painting comes from the liquidation of a Stuttgart paper dealer’s stock and is around 40 years old.
